Who would’ve thought that the best-tasting women-owned chocolate company would’ve started in the midst of a pedal-powered adventure on Galiano Island in 2006… Low and behold, the idea of Zazubean Chocolate came to fruition somewhere between the gasps for air and the sneaky bites of chocolate the ladies were eating between hills. In this blog post, we are sharing the story of us! Read on to learn about Zazubean Chocolate’s origin story.
One of our co-founders, Tiziana, a physiologist and lover of cycling and all things outdoors, had the idea of creating a chocolate company. She dreamed of making it from sustainably and ethically sourced cacao, and then she took it a step further and made it a superfood-filled, nutrient powerhouse for all its consumers. Tiz thought to herself, “is there a way to make chocolate that is healthy, ethically delicious and is packed superfood ingredients?” You guessed it, she did it.
Upon her return home from her cycling trip, Tiz reached out to her now business BFF, Tara, whose specialty lies in social responsibility and business development. The dynamic duo divided and conquered - Tara handling the business responsibilities, while Tiz poured herself into creating mouth-watering, superfood-loaded chocolate recipes. Together they created the lineup of ethically-sourced, affordable and delicious Zazubean Chocolate bars!
Fast forward to today and their values remain the same. Zazubeans strives to promote healthy living, sharing their passion for chocolate and positively influence the marketplace by offering reliably delicious superfood infused chocolate that is fun to eat, engaging and socially conscious.
